Persistant Power feat overpowered?

True.

However, healing damage in between fights isn't as critical, and slow methods like wands of cure light wounds work pretty well. Besides, the investment in pp for 10 regen is 2 6th level effects and change. 2 Heal spells that are properly timed should take care of most of the damage that a PC faces in a day.

I'm not too worried about persistent power and psions, now persistent spell and clerics can get really sick fast.

I've yet to have a problem with it. I think it gets used more by the NPcs though. Persistant detect Good on the gaurds. I like evil priesthoods, so the Party faces many an evil cleric. Mostly, when I hear people complain aboiut it it seems to be moer a fault with the spell then the feat.

I overused it myself as a cleiric, and I think it increased my power many fold. The way I look at it spells with a realy short duration like in rounds or minutes are supposed to be abalnced by their really short duration. Extending there duraiton is one thing making it 24 hours is another. I think the spell would of been better placed if it worked on spells with a variable duraiton less than hours per level, and what it did was increase the spells duration into another time category, rounds to minutes, minutes to 10 minutes, 10minutes to hours. (maybe with a level boost of 2 levels)

You and everyone else.
Why WotC didn't see what everyone else did still escapes me.
They'll never change it. Spells rarely change once made. Look at harm, since the books were printed people saw the flaw in that, but WotC wont ever errata it.

A worse abuse - for a *5th* level slot, a Cleric or Druid can cast a Persistent Regenerate Light Wounds - Fast Healing 1 - all day! A Druid can give Fast Healing 2 for a 6th, 3 for a 7th, or 4 for an 8th, level slot. Sick, no?

The persistant spell feat is VERY broken

Persistant power and Divine favour, combined with a double extended Endurance makes a Cleric a equal front line fighter to a warrior

Very broken. Also makes the Incantrix PrC capable of true brokeness too.

Someone proposed a house rule fix which I use, it moves the time catagory up one - ie one minute goes to 10 minutes, 10 minues to hour etc

Can't cast a persistent Regenerate spell, it's a touch spell, not personal.

Plus, why is it broken? If you want a persistent Divine Favor (+x to hit and damage luck bonus) you have to use up a raise dead or flame strike slot. I'd rather have one of those handy. The fighters have improved critical with Keen weapons and other such things. Use that extended GMW on the Barbarian's great axe and he'll be much more efficient than that cleric with all those spells on. Clerics should make the big guys better, that would be much more useful than using it all on yourself. Now, if the cleric wants to wast a 9th, 8th, and 5th level slot, then he can cast a persistent Righteous Might, Divine Power, and Divine Favor, but I still think other area spells, group buff spells, and such will do your group much better.

Also, to get that double extended Endurance and Persistent Divine Favour, the cleric would have to spend at least 4 feats. That ain't much of a bang for your buck. I'd rather take Focus and Greater focus to make my Flame Strikes have a DC of 24. That's a bit more useful, I think.

Too many things are broken in most people's opinions, but it's all out of context. Nothing's broken, just misused ;). It's the DMs duty to keep people from misusing the rules.

I don't think it's nearly as broken for Psions and Psychic Warriors as Persistent Spell is for Wizards, Sorcerers and especially Clerics.

The best Persistent I could scrape together for the psionic characters under 20th level were:

Ethereal Jaunt.
Talons (yawn, +1 unarmed damage all day)
Displacement
Expansion
Trace Teleport
Power Resistance (only PR 12... nigh worthless at 20th level)

Most of the rest are either completely worthless or have long enough durations on their own it isn't worth the +8 PP.
