Persistent Spell - Abuse?

Now, the high-level cleric with Persistent Spell (or low-mid level cleric with Divine Metamagic (Persistent Spell)) can really step on other classes toes - Persistent Find Traps (Rogue territory), Persistent Divine Favor & Persistent Divine Power (mostly requires Divine Metamagic, although I believe there are a few PrC's that could help... and an Epic feat or two) really let you step on the fighter's toes. Add to that the fact that a carefully built Cleric can blast reasonably well, and you can build a viable party of four clerics....

Persistent Snipers shot would allow an arcan trickster to sneak attack without range restrictions all day.

Doesn't that spell only last until your next attack though? Though I agree, Persistent Spell is a rather crazy feat, and certainly should in particular probably not be used with swift spells.

Personal favorite? Hit epic levels (hey, I see you rolling your eyes! quit it. ) as an Incantatrix, take a few shots of Improved Spellcasting, and a shot of Improved Metamagic, and then cast yourself a Persistent Time Stop with a measly 9th-level spell slot. Mmm, nothing like infinite free time, since that's plenty of time to sit down and rememorize all of one's spells, mess heavily with any unattented objects you can get your hands on, follow it up with another persistent Time Stop, etc. The possibilities are endless!

Yeah, but everyone knows divine metamagic is broken, even with errata. In my games I houserule it to require having spell slots of the appropriate level it would take to prepare the spell without divine metamagic, even if the divine metamagic casting still requires only the lower-level slot. Kinda like how the incantatrix's ability got the same treatment in official errata. It's a safe, balanced fix and prevents metamagic getting out of hand.
