Petrifying Gaze/Break Enchantment/Plane Shift

Is Break Enchantment the only thing that an 11th level Cleric has to save someone petrified by a Medusa? The 1 minute casting time makes it tough to save a friend and run. For purposes of Break Enchantment, what's the caster level of the Medusa's Petrifying Gaze effect?

If a party member has been petrified by a Medusa, can the other party members still hold his stone hands and get him to come along on a Plane Shift?

I'm using 3.0 but wouldn't mind hearing how things are different in 3.5

*shrug* he's either an object (in which case, he can be brought if he can be carried - what's his weight? A str-10 character can stagger around with as much as 200 lbs, if I'm reading the 3.5 SRD right; a str 15 fighter could pull off 400) or he is still a character, and can thus be "willing". Either way, he can potentially come along.
