Pets as props

In all the props that you've ever used in a game, have you ever used a pet? :D

I say this because I recently bought a baby corn snake. She's just small enough to be a huge constrictor snake or something similar, compared to a typical mini. ;)

I've heard of people using cats as dragons before. Could a rat be a Hill Giant Wererat? Or maybe a hamster could be a Giant Space Hamster!

Any good tales?

Well, we've never deliberately used a pet as a prop, but I've had more than one cat--both my own and my friends'--decide that she was going to be dragon-like and slay the puny miniatures (during the few instances where we use them).

Normally they just go for the dice...

In fact, here she is with the Player's Handbook:

My cat doesn't play with dice.

He hoardes them.

Yes, he will get up on the table as we are gaming, grab one in his mouth, then run as fast as he possibly can to escape our angry clutches. He then places the dice where he wants it.

I've found piles of ten or more in his towels, or the drawer of the computer desk he sleeps in.

Stupid cat.

I taught my cat to steal a specific color of dice on command. You should see the looks when I say Grab Yellow and she runs off with one of the yellow dice on the table. (Although it only works with colors of high contrast).

My favorite was something she did all on her own. I had a wizard with a cat familiar and she took a liking to the player and would spend the entire session following him around like, well a familiar.

I have 750 gallons in saltwater aquariums. I run a campaign set beneath the sea. I use my tanks mainly for inspiration but I am setting up a new tank with underwater lighting and Greek-style ruins. Now all I need is to weight down some plastic minis.
