[Petz] Battle Calculation/Rules

Tactics

If your pet's Defense rating is equal or more than twice the opponent's Strength rating, you could sit back all day and not be hurt - waiting for the Special Attack to come up, as it ignores defense values and just goes for a percentage of hit points.

Of course, if they got their special attack before yours... :(

Cheers!

Battle Analysis

This is a battle happening at the moment, so I'll see how my figures add up:

Pythagorus - HEALTH 100; STR 40; DEF 20; AGL 40
Hamlet - HEALTH 100; STR 40; DEF 30; AGL 30

Turn 1: Pythagorus Attacked Hamlet and did 10 damage.
Attack - Pythag has a greater agility, so
• 60% => Damage = ySTR - oDEF
• 40% => Damage = ySTR - (oDEF/2)

Obviously, the first option was rolled: 40 (Str) - 30 (Def) = 10 damage.

Turn 1: Hamlet Attacked Pythagorus and did 32 damage.
Attack, but Pythag has a lesser agility:
• 60% => Damage = ySTR/2 - oDEF
• 40% => Damage = ySTR/2 - oDEF/3

The first option was chosen; so damage was 0. When that happens, Damage = random (ySTR) – random (oDEF).

So d40 - d20 = 32 damage.

Turn 2: Pythagorus Attacked Hamlet and did 25 damage.

This time, the second option was rolled.
40 Str - 15 Def = 25 damage

Turn 2: Hamlet Attacked Pythagorus and Missed.

As with the first turn.
d40 - d20 ended up causing no damage.

Cheers!

What would happen on a Counterattack?

Pythagorus - HEALTH 100; STR 40; DEF 20; AGL 40
Hamlet - HEALTH 100; STR 40; DEF 30; AGL 30

Pythagorus would deal (40 - 15) +(40 - 15)+ d8
= 71 to 78 points of damage

Hamlet would deal (40-10) + (30-20) + d8
= 41 to 48 points of damage

Cheers!

Yes. :)

During a counterattack, you both deal damage to each other according to the counterattack formula - and it's a lot.

However, the counterattacker must survive to get the attack back. :(

I don't know if you can counterattack against a special attack, though.

Cheers!

Ouch...
Thomasina: STR 5, DEF 70, AGL 5 vs. Pythagorus STR 40 DEF 20 AGL 20

Turn 1: Thomasina Attacked Pythagorus and did 4 damage.
Normal attack: Damage = Random(5) - Random (20).

Turn 1: Pythagorus Attacked Thomasina and did 5 damage.
Normal Attack: Damage = STR (40) - DEF (70)/2 = 5 pts

Turn 2: Thomasina Did Not Move.
Turn 2: Pythagorus Did Not Move.

Turn 3: Thomasina Attacked Pythagorus and Missed.
Counter Attack: Pythagorus Attacked Thomasina and did 42.5 damage.

Ouch! Now, why did Thomasina miss?
Damage = (ySTR – oDEF/2) +(yAGI-oAGI/2)+ random(ySTR/5)
= (5 - 10) + (5 - 10) + random(1) = -9 points!

Thomasina, unfortunately, can do no damage in an attack/counter-attack situation. Eric: just defend until you get your special attack!

Pythag damage = (40-35)+(20-2.5)+d8 = 22.5+d8 = 42.5? I think I'm missing something.

Cheers!
