Bit curious now as to if these feats are really balanced 'as feats'.
Not denying that they add a nice touch of flavor to clerics of the appropiate deity, I'm just concerned about their relative balance. Especially given that they are close to exclusively the domain of Clerics, a class already 'considerably strong' on the power scale [I think at least, not sure in 3.5].
Assuming that they are balanced against each other (something I consider quite possibly questionable), are they 'balanced' against other feats?
They often give an ability ranging from a partial benefit from an existing feat (Initiate of Helm's partial Combat Reflexes) or even an existing feat (Initiate of Bane's Dreadful Wrath-type ability), and some spells.
The spells at least seem a bit questionable to me as a benefit, as that would normally require numerous feats (ala, Improved Spell Knowledge or Extra Spell). Now I can possibly buy that Extra Spell is a bit too "weak" of a feat when considered against a Cleric or certain spellcasters with "broad spellbooks", but this feat gains the added benefit of being spells that the Cleric could not normally obtain, but again they're restricted.
In all, I'm leaning towards at least 'in general' assuming that the Initiate feats are a bit too powerful "as feats".
