PH3 predictions?

I know I'll pitch a fit if I don't get Psionics in PH3.

Aside from that, I dunno. 8 classes seems to be expected, whether it's 4 classes for 2 power sources or 4/2/2 for 3 power sources is not something I'm going to speculate on.

I must admit, I find the idea of Monster Classes that mix with Hybrids to be a fascinating idea. But could it get shoehorned into PH3? It's a possibility, especially if you introduce scaling powers. For example, the Dragon always gets a breath weapon as an encounter power, so, writeup the power to change depending which power level you give it.

My question: Aside from the Artificer, are we likely to see more classes from the current power sources? Do new sources have to fill all the Roles? Is PH3 going to introduce a new Martial class so that MP2 doesn't seem so redundant?

I think the real question is what will the Player's Guides for the new settings bring. I don't think we'll see anymore Martial/Arcane/Divine/Primal classes in the PHs (for a while, at least) But what will the 2010 setting introduce? 2011?

Dark Sun could give us the Gladiator back. Dragonlance could give us Knights. Just two examples from the top of my head.

Racial classes or options: I highly doubt this is a priority, simply because then a lot of adventures will have the "what if you're a group of monsters" question. Still, there is enough literature that some interesting classes/options could come out of this.

*Illithids
* Vampires
* skeletons (I mean, why not? Intellegent ones, at least; maybe junior liches)
* Werewolves/weretigers

Races: I'm hoping for Githyanki and Githzerai to have a good spot in PH3. Elan would be sweet (they could turn invisible? No?). Also, a better write-up for minotaurs and Gnolls, maybe.

Rules: here's a question for you. Combat rules, for disarming an opponent, or tripping.
I know that it could be game-breaking if done wrong; or simply cumbersome and unweildy as a rules system (aka 3.x rules I didn't get until near the end).

Well, I'm hoping for more martial classes, but I doubt it'll happen. A martial assassin, a two-handed or one-handed weapon striker (swordmaster, etc?), a martial controller (monkish?), and so on.

Racewise, I'm hoping for Lizard Men, Shadar-Kai, and would love some variant human races, such as "high men", "ancient men", "woodsmen", etc

much as I'm wanting Dark Sun and psionics ot be out soon ;)
"Gladiator" is a profession, not a class, IMHO, same with "templars"

doesn't matter how they do it, the gladiator is a person who fights in an arena, you can be a wizard and be a gladiator!
So a "gladiator" could be any type of combatant you chose, most likely a fighter or ranger, with feats/powers suitable for up close drity fighting against lighty armoured foes.

A "trained" gladiator slave, you can imagine, would have high strength, very high Consitution (which is actually crucial) and good dexterity, due to selection and training.
Those who don't cut the mustard become halfling stew! :p

And Dark Sun templars are a wide variety of bureacrats, demagogues, psionicists, politicians, spy masters, thugs, or professional and possibly fanatic military leaders, and some really do believe their sorceror king is a god (or god like being) and those last group are the ones who happily use spells ot paralyze infidels, or folk bad mouthing the SKs in public, to make a nice show of of the power the sorceror king, and they, have.
After that they either sell the law breakers as slaves or have 'em killed in really interesting ways in the area, over several hours if necessary... :devil:

So a templar could be anything you can think of, with maybe little combat skills but hell of a high social skills and elite bodyguards to do the dirty work.

:)

I think it's very very likely the Githzerai will show up as a PC race, because other than Humans they're the most iconic race as Monks. They've also been a PC race before, along with their evil cousins.

Githyanki might show up, but they might hold off on them because they are a villainous race, and they didn't give us Drow in the same book as Elves. But they've been mentioned in a couple class write-ups.

Is PH3 going to introduce a new Martial class so that MP2 doesn't seem so redundant?

This will take the thread off topic so I'll leave this as short as possible...
I don't think they'll introduce new Martial classes. My guess would be that it might introduce some new class features, some new fighting styles in the form of mlticlass and feats (similar to the gladiator stuff from dragon), and also, all the race-class specific PPs and feats (just as the first MP had stuff for dragonborn fighters, and dragonborn warlords, and teiflings in the different martial classes, and so on ...) -- since there will be new races in PHB3, they will be able to reexplore that same feat and pp space but with different races to match up to the existing martial classes. Anyway, that's my guess on that.

But, back on topic.

I think a couple races presented in MM2 will make a full-writeup appearance in PHB3.
