that's, like, your opinion. My players would find that anti climatic for a boss fight at the end of an adventure. Also, I can't see anyway it even comes close to killing a PC unless it focuses fire on one of them.

Creatures of the refraction’s choice within 60 feet of it must succeed on a DC 19 Intelligence saving throw or take 33 (5d10 + 6) psychic damage and have the stunned condition for 1 minute. A stunned creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

That's a really tough save.

Well, that kind of answers all the "Why are there no tie-in products" posts in the BG3 threads, even if this was inadvertent. But they're right, putting a mind flayer on the cover would have been a smart choice here to catch the eyes of BG3 players...

There are mind flayers on the alt cover.

It's probably just a bug. Note when I search for it and click on it's entry I get a 404 with a path into the obelisk adventure.

it's some kind of screwup, when you click on the legacy link, you get the text of the new one, when you click on the new one, you get a 404

Dragonlance, Spelljammer and Glory of the Giants all had this element.

no, it has no new backgrounds, it is purely an adventure
