D&D 5E PHB available early at stores? (just like Starter Set)

Just noticed this under the PHB part of the D&D NEXT RELEASE SCHEDULE thread, and wanted to confirm since no source was listed (although I guess if it's on this site, it's pretty confirmed):

The PHB will be available at Gen Con this August. It was also be available 11 days earlier at WPN stores.

So, August 8 at stores? That's a big enough gap to get me to wonder if it's worth the extra $20 (as opposed to Amazon, which - with shipping - may be about 2 weeks later).

Yes, I have 22 days to decide whether to play the extra $20 and get the PH at the store or wait for Amazon. The basic monsters and DM rules come out on the 8th too so maybe that will keep me busy enough that I can wait for the PH.

However, once people start getting the PH and talking about it around here I know I will want it NOW.

Yup, they get it early. All tte books.
Two weeks isn't that huge unless you have a campaign starting during that period.
Or if you plan on going to GenCon and want to avoid long lines.

Buying early accomplishes two things in my mind-- supports the (semi-) local game store; and gives me plenty of time to have a character made before gencon (this would be of far greater import) if I actually planned to play AL games there.

Note: I do plan to play AL games, just not at gencon; rather, I plan to play them at dragoncon.
