Phibes' Call of Cthulhu Game (OOC)

Ok, will do. I think I'm done the guts of him. Now for the background and stuff.

Keep in mind I've made all of one CoC character before, so let me know if I've missed something or done something wrong.

Come on guys, Cthulu is fun!

If you're tired of just mindlessly walking through groups of zombies, this is the game for you. Zombies are mean buggers in this game :)

Good game if you like riddles and thinking.

I looked over your character and he looks good! :)

Come on people! There isn't even one Call of Cthulhu game going on these boards. There has to be 3 or 4 people who would want to play!!

Don't make me use the Vorish Sign to make you play!

Well I'm definitely interested in this, but i don't have the book. I can wander on down and pester my local bookshop owner until he lets me use one of his copies (he's a very amiable guy, and I'm on good terms with him) if that would be easiest, but in that case it'll take a little while. Otherwise, I guess I'll need a lot of guidance through the creation process. I've never played in a game, but I've read a few of Lovecraft's short stories and I love the atmosphere and setting.

Oh, and bad news is that I will probably want to play a more cerebral guy as well. Still, if necessary I can probably work in some combat prowess somewhere in the process. I'd always got the impression, though, that combat specialists tended to make very poor character choices for CoC. Am I misinformed?

In the games that I have run or played in, Combat tends to be pretty messy and dangerous for player character in COC.

Chaos Apostate,
If you need help building a character, I would be happy to help. As for another cerebral type character that is fine.

We can be the brain squad. If we need muscle, I'm sure we can hire some out. I personally don't plan on fighting a whole lot, and I've got my running shoes on :)

The one CoC game I did play, I was a combat guy, and hoo boy, that was just nasty.

"Those that scream and run away live to run another day... and come back with flamethrowers and an angry mob behind them" :D

Yeah, I'd always heard that combat in CoC was just messy, nasty, and generally not something you wanted to get involved in. Besides, it just seems out of place to me... after all, when do any of Lovecraft's characters fight? They don't. They just research themselves into a hole, run away, and if they're still alive then they research themselves into another hole. Repeat ad mortum. :)

Anyway, I have a vague idea of a character starting to shape up in my mind, but I have no idea of what profession would best fit him. Do you think it would be possible just to post up a list of the templates given in the CoC book?
