Anyway, I have a vague idea of a character starting to shape up in my mind, but I have no idea of what profession would best fit him. Do you think it would be possible just to post up a list of the templates given in the CoC book?

Here is a list of the Profession Templates

Agent (your friendly G-Man!)
Antiquarian (that strange man who has that shop that sells all those exotic items)
Archaeologist (indie anyone)
Artist/Musician (it is said that they are senstive to mystic forces, poor fools)
Blue-Collar Worker (your common working man)
Criminal (gangster type)
Detective (Police or private)
Dilettante (poor rich man/women with nothing better to do but to stick there noses where they don't belong)
Doctor/Nurse (you want me to treat WHAT?)
Parapsychologist (wants to understand the unknown, poor fools)
Priest/Clergyman (exorcism anyone?)
Professor (I know that that is....I think)
Psychologist (tries and put back together the broken minds of the other characters)
Soldier (give me a gun..I can kill it....ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!)
Technician (what we have here is a vibro-ether distorter....I think)
White-Collar Worker/Businessman (I have some great seaside properity in Innsmouth for sale)
Writer/Reporter (this is the story of the century!!! ARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!)

Character decided to change careers and became part of the museum security a couple of years ago.

Looks good to me. You could have been caught a few years ago trying to rob the museum but the curator did not press charges but instead worked up a friendship with you and hired you as the chief of security for the museum.

Alright, so I'm thinking Artist. I'm pretty much settled on my character's personality and background now, but I don't really know where I should begin in terms of character creation. Shall I just post up some stats, and a general idea of what sort of skills and feats I would like?
