Phobomancer PrC

One of my players is extremely attached to his Necromancy [fear] spells, so I figgered I'd make a Phobomancer ("Fear-magic-user") prestige class. The insight of any or all would be appreciated.

Phobomancer

[insert fluff here]

Requirements
In order to become a Phobomancer, a character must meet the following requirements:

Skills: Intimidate: 4 ranks, Knowledge (Arcana) 9 ranks, Knowlege (psychology) 4 ranks.
Feats: Spell Focus (Necromancy)
Spellcasting: Able to cast three different [fear] spells as arcane spells.

BAB as wizard
Saves as wizard

Spellcasting at each level

Level/Special
1/
2/Jaded +1
3/ Pain of Terror +1d6
4/Improved Metamagic, Jaded +2
5/Once Scared
6/ Pain of Terror +2d6, Jaded +3
7/
8/Jaded +4
9/ Pain of Terror +3d6
10/ Fear from Within, Jaded +5

Jaded: A Phobomancer adds his Jaded modifier to any saves against fear effect.

Pain of Terror: Any creature who fails his save against a [fear] spell cast by an experienced Phobomancer suffers wracking pains from involuntary, terror-compelled spasms, taking the dice listed in subdual damage.

Improved Metamagic: A 4th level Phobomancer applies metamagic feats to his [fear] spells at a one level discount, but no feat can be applied for free.

Once Scared: Anyone who fails a save against a [fear] spell cast by a Phobomancer has a -2 morale penalty to further saves against [fear] spells cast by that Phobomancer.

Fear from Within [I worry about this one]: When casting a [fear] spell, a 10th level Phobomancer adds 1/4th his ranks in Intimidate to the save DC of the spell.

I need ideas for abilities for 1st, 4th and 7th levels.

Thanks!:)

Fear from Within how about this add 1/2 of the Prc class level to the save DC of fear spells.

Pain of Terror: This should say subdoul damage is dealt

Jaded is fine.

ok for a 1st level ability why not fear 1/day per level in the Prc.

4th level you can have it so they add there key ability to how long the fear spells work

7th level you might want to leav this blank for now unless some one can come up with something for it.

does that help.

I would reduce the ranks required for Intimidate, since, as now, the minimum level for a straight wizard to take this class is level 10, that is-unless the campaign he's in allows feats like Cosmopolitan or the DM allows him to get an extra/switch to get Intimidate as a class skill.

I would increase the Jaded benefit to once every 2 levels instead, after all, paladins are immune to fear at level 1.

Fear from Within, hrm-well, for balance's sake I would make it simply add 1/4 of your skill ranks in intimidate to the DC and make it come earlier. If it's simply the skill check, then someone could get, oh let's say, an item with +20 to Intimidate to get an extra 4 DC on all his spells easy. Just a thought.

Some ability suggestions include:
-Inducing a -2 morale penalty to attacks, saves, and skill checks for the following hour after being successfully effected by a fear spell.
-A bonus (+2-4 perhaps) on effecting an opponent you've already inflicted with a fear spell, since you know what they're scared of.
-Extra bonus range for area fear spells.

Sollir, I like your suggestion for Fear from Within and advancing Jaded, but I'm not so sure on the area tweak. Consider the Once-Scared jacked.

Since you only get the ability at the 10th level of a 10-level PrC, that equates to a flat +5 bonus. Which isn't half bad, really.

Aura of Menace: The phobomancer gains an insight bonus to all Intimidate checks equal to half of his or her level.

Feed Upon Fear: Once per day, the phobomancer may consume a creature's fear. The phobomancer must touch the target, requiring a melee touch attack if the target does not wish to be touched. This removes any fear effect (natural or magical) from the target, and restores hit points to the phobomancer based on the degree of fear:
* Shaken: 1d6+1
* Frightened: 2d6+2
* Panicked: 3d6+3

Hmm... perhaps give him the ability to affect paladins with his fear effects, but give them a +4 bonus to their save (since they are within their own aura).

i would considering changing the requirements so you could become a phobomancer at an earlier level say 8 instead of ten. i think you need to beef up the top end because despite all the cool abilities, lv 20 wizard seems a helll of a lot more powerful than 10 wiz/ 10 phobo. unless that is u allow the charcter spells as if he were a specialized wizard so that he could get up to lv 9 spells. maybe make him choose another restricted school when he takes phobomancer. as cool as fear spells are the character will need some other stuff to balance him in the game. another thing u could do is write up some of ur own fear spells to augment the ones in the phb. Make sure there are enough spells that every phobomancer, that that there will be many, isnt exactly the same in terms of what spells they know.
