Theme: Rogues with different skills working together
Most characters will be multi-classed rogues. All must have reasonably
high skills for hide and move silently. Care will be taken to coordinate
the development of characters so that each has different roles in the
functioning party.
Previously this campaign had an excessively high mortality rate, so
characters will be created at level 1 and "matured" to level 2 for the
campaign, meaning that level 1 characters will be created on the honor
system and I will work with the player on what sort of things could be
acquired in his career prior to the campaign.
There are generally multiple ways to resolve encounters. Even random
encounters have the potential to move the campaign forward. XP awards
combat and non-combat encounters equally and weights them both so that
encounters share equal importance with role-playing and with story
goals. (Experience is given for every encounter, regardless of how it is
resolved. XP for encounters is divided by 3. Generous RP and story
awards are given.)
There is some ability to make accommodations for occasional scheduling
issues, but the ability to communicate in advance is critical. This is a
long term campaign and we would like to be able to take the characters
from level 2 to 20+.
Age not so important, but minimum maturity level - must be able...
to use a phone to communicate last day changes,
to participate constructively in the administrative mailing list
to write a back story for your character with moderate feedback
to solve problems and to make decisions co-operatively
