Picture of the Core Rules Gift Set...

I intend to DM in nice dress/work clothes, myself. Maybe with sushi on occassion.

Anyways, regardless of the covers, I do like how the book spines are looking. Nice and clean.

Go figure. Well worth it if you ask me.

Bring back the snazzy 3.5 leather covers. They were something I could get jealous of at the table!

Yeah, leather covers would be cool.

Still, the current boxed set is a good deal -- enough to convince me to pre-order the core books. Ended up being $62 & change from Amazon, which was cheaper than buying all 3 books through Amazon independently by anout $7.

I unfortunatley disagree. The layout of the book covers is just unappealing to me. It seems art is the one thing I think 3.0/3.5 has over 4E. :\

3.5 Core books have boring art, so just about anything they put on the front of 4E is better. Otherwise, I agree that the majority of 3.5 books have better cover art - adventures included. The heroic tier adventure covers all look the same and rather dull (although the paragon ones look pretty cool, as does the FR adventure cover).

I really don't care much about the cover art, simply because D&D cover art has never appealed to me that much, 4E appeals to me more, especially in comparison to the fake leather/binding covers of 3e.

But absolutely nothing can compare to nWoD covers, those I think are the best PnP covers on the market.

Thanks for pointing that out - I had preordered all three core books and the total (including shipping) came to $72, and I thought I was getting a good deal. Now it's down to $66, and I'm getting a better deal :)

I'll have to wait a few days for shipping, but hopefully somehow I'll be able to... acquire a PDF copy of these books early.

Considering the page count (PHB 320; MM 288; DMG 224) there's something wrong with that pic.

Also, for those ordering from Amazon, what's there delivery like? Am I getting it on the 6th, or are they shipping it on the 6th?

I'm willing to shell out the difference to get it on release rather than days later.

Having been a member of Amazon Prime I can say amazon ships rather quickly, all thigns said. So long as they have the books to ship if you order it the next day you'll be getting it next day.

Also, if you DO have Amazon PRime then next day shipping costs 1-3 USD.

It all depends on when they get the book. I've had books and video games from Amazon coming via Standard shipping (3-5 days) that still beat street date, and I've had ones that were shipped 2-day that arrived 3 days after release. There's just no way to tell with pre-launch items like this - it's all a matter of when they get stock.
