Protection... why? Are you removing one of these from you're game?

The whole chain is broken IMHO... YMMV. There are lots of other, more subtle ways for a DM to empower himself (or herself)...

The dispel chance for Pierce Magical Protection uses the characters Spellcraft check as his caster level... (using greater dispel mechanic)... it isn't an automatic, targeted dispel.
