I am realizing now the true extent to of the question I was asking about spells. With all of the splat books and everything, there are unlimited combinations. That is one of the things that makes this class so cool. Through research you can find the perfect combination of spells for your character. With a willing DM you could really have a lot of good RP searching for new spells and gaining little bits of lost knowledge. It really captures the flavor of the class in a functional mechanic. It's too bad that there are so many ways to abuse it.
