Pimp my dwarf

Take the Dwarven Cleric racial substituion levels from RoS - it's so worth it, and great for a melee slugger such as yourself.

I'd take the Dwarven Fighter 1st-level substitution from RoS. You get d12 for HD and the equivalent of weapon focus with all axes.

Q: could you take them both? If you could, groovy :)

Actually, all of the fighters sub levels for dwarves are pretty nice, and the 1st and 4th level ones for Clerics are okay too :)

Of course, Fighters get more axe-specialties, whereas clerics have hammers. YMMV on which you want, of course.

One comment - if you're going for cleric and the War domain... Moradin's favored weapon is the warhammer. Meaning the WF and proficiency is for Warhammer only!

edit - Sounded a bit terse there.. Wasn't my intention! :)

I'd be shocked if Clanggedin (spelling?) didn't have the War domain and axes (battle, I guess... he dual-wields) as favored weapon.

One of the FR dwarven gods has the War Domain and Axe -- Haela Brightaxe. Take that and you're groovy.

Barbarian/cleric can actually be some fun with a dwarf, but if you're going to focus on cleric stick with fighter so you avoid the XP penalties (unless you don't use them, in which case a dwarven barbarian cleric can be tremendous fun).

Keep low Cha. You don't turn undead -- you smite them with your axe. You're a rude bastiche. Anyone who doesn't at least respect the worship of mighty Haela gets the flat side of your axe. Anyone who disrespects Haela gets the sharp end. Disrespect a dwarf and ye gives 'em the shaft!
