When I was a pre-teen and teenager in the 80s I always looked down my nose at pre-ripped, pre-faded, and shotgun jeans. That was less about me having any pride in taking care of my clothes and more a teenagers misplaced sense of pride at having earned my faded, ripped jeans. And yet, I was a hypocrite, because I loved buying stuff from the army surplus store and I certainly hadn't earned the used look of that stuff. In my 50s, I have two modes, formal business attire with everything clean and in good shape and dress like a bum at home and the weekends. It is not that I wear worn out casual clothes as a fasion statement. I'm just a cheap ass, resent the money and time I'm spending on updating and cleaning my work clothes, I can't be bothered looking nice out of work.</blockquote>
