In your conditional offer, call it a home inspection though (because that is what it is).A home inspector is often a retired tradesman (i.e. a carpenter, electrician, etc.). Probably an expert... in their area of expertise. Having said that, I have dealt with some inspectors who know what they're about, and holistically understand home construction principles i.e. building science.Unless you super duper, pinky swear, know your home inspector is one of these divine beings, though, go the route I've suggested. Get experts to evaluate the biggest purchase of your life. I don't care how cute that breakfast nook looks. The bones matter, and if you ignore that, you will be sad. You're welcome.</blockquote>
