Yeah, once, for work, I uploaded a lengthy project report in Word doc format and asked it to pull some quotes from it that would help tell the project's story. Just to see if it could save me some time. Guess what? Even with a specific document to work with, it made stuff up! Heck, I've even told it "I need help coming up with some text to go with this video of an interview with Deputy Principal X" and it responded with, "Here's some text with a [completely made-up] quote from Head Teacher X to go with the video." I'm like, "Dude, first, I didn't even ask you for a quote, never mind a made-up one, and I even told you that the guy's a Deputy Principal, not a Head Teacher." 🙄 I find it most useful as an idea generator for when I'm stuck and an editor/polisher - like if I've got some text that's a bit too long and I need to trim a few words to get it to fit into the allotted space in the layout. Or like if I'm not sure how to respond to an email or don't quite know what to say for a social media post. ChatGPT is great for that kind of stuff. But it is NOWHERE CLOSE to being usable as a replacement for a human or for any kind of work that requires evidence. On a personal note, I'm also finding it helpful when converting older edition adventures to run in 5e. But again that's mostly brainstorming type stuff. When it comes to mechanics, it's not that great. I understand that the paid version of ChatGPT has more bells and whistles and can produce better results, but I can't justify the cost, so I just put up with the more limited free version.
