When my wife and I were pursuing our graduate degrees in Hawaii, we moved four times. Jack in the Box was our go-to moving day lunch--we'd even put the Jack-in-the-Box antenna ball on our car's antenna as some stupid ritual. I always got the sour dough patty melts. I don't think I've ever seen a Jack-in-the-Box in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Yeah, I never cared for their waffle fries either. As much as I love potatoes in other form, never been a big fry fan. My favorite fried remain MacDonald's fries, fresh out of the fryer, with lots of ketchup. My second favorite fried potatoes are frozen tater tots from CostCo fried in the air fryer, again with lots of ketchup. I guess I have low-brow tastes when it comes to fried potatoes. I learned to make baked potato wedges that I (and my guests) really enjoy, but I've been disappointed so often at restaurants that I never order potato wedges when I eat out. I love White Castle. If there were any close to me, I'd hit it up regularly. I don't really consider it a burger place though. :-) It stands alone as its own thing. That's what my son said when he was excited about discovering it and it became his favorite place. It's...okay. I didn't yuck on his yum, but inside I have to admit to thinking my son needed to grow up and expand his tastes. I'm happy to say his current girlfriend has done so and got him over being such a picky, unadventurous eater. Parents can't compete with girlfriends. I'm glad he's dating someone who gets him to try new things.
