Pirate base class?

Was there ever a Pirate base class printed in any WotC book or Dragon Magazine? I could have sworn there was once. Perhaps the issue where they stated Ninja's and Pirate were arch enemies, and they listed a base class Ninja...

If there is a base class pirate, can anyone post the stats and stuff they get every level. At the very least, tell me what issue or book it can be found in?

are you talking about the Buccaneer?

the best stats for them are found in the 1edADnD MM (1977) look under Men - Buccaneer.

Good Ref
Good Bab
Weapons - simple + cutlass, & belaying pin. Pirates can use the improvised weapons Pegleg and hookhand as if they had proficiency with them
1-Code- Pirates must bury 50% of all valubles they come across. They must also inexplicably make a map to this treasure
2- Animal Companion - pirates gain an animal companion as per Druid rules(must be a parrot)
3- Rape & Pillage +1 (insight bonus to search checks and initimidate checks made against members of the opposite sex)
4- Shiver me timbers - pirates gain a +4 luck bonus when attempting to sunder anything composed mainly of wood
5- Rape & Pillage +2
6- Booty Call - when dividing treasure a pirate gets first pick. If another character has booty call, the one with the higher dex modifier picks first.
7- Rape & Pillage +3
8- Hollow Leg - a Pirate gains a circumstance bonus equal to his level when making Fort saves against intoxication(if one leg is in fact hollow this bonus is equal to twice their level)
9- Rape & Pillage +3
10- Scurvy - Gains +6 alchemical bonus to intimidate checks

There ya go. I'm out of ideas. :p

Sweet.

Dragonlance Age of Mortals has a Mariner core class that could fit your needs--the description indicates that some mariners are buccaneers. It has rogue bab, good fort. and ref. saves, 6 skill points per level, bonus feats and bonuses to sea related skills, and a dirty strike ability similar to sneak attack, but not quite as good and sailor lore, which is a limited version of bardic lore. They get leather/padded armor and simple weapons plus cutlass, belaying pin, net, trident, and scimitar. Oh and d8 for hit dice.

No base classes in core 3.0 or 3.5 sources. Some third-party work done in Broadsides and in Skull & Bones.

You could use the Thug variant of the Fighter (see Unearthed Arcana p.51), which has better skills at the cost of armour used and a single bonus feat. I'd drop the Thug's additional class skills and replace them with Balance, Profession (sailor), Spot, and Use Rope. Maybe change the good save from Fortitude to Reflex. The list of bonus fighter feats could remain as-is, or you could use the list of recommended feats for a Pirate in Sword & Fist (p.55).
