Pirates "Constructable Strategy Game"

I bought some of those cards for another game, but some friends play it and they enjoy it.

If you want another great pirate game (that's a little more complicated), try Plunder!, it's a great game.

I have bought several of the packs for the game, but I don't play the Pirates game at all. I run a Freeport campaign, and discovered that the ships make wonderful miniatures for ocean battles between ships or ships and monsters. They fit nicely on a battlemap, and are a lot less expensive than metal or wooden miniatures that I've seen.

My one complaint is that once in a while, the holes for the masts seem to not be cut big enough. I occasionally snap a mast in half trying to put it onto the deck. Otherwise, for my use I really enjoy having them.

I initially had that same problem. Try rocking the masts in from side-to-side (along the long axis), rather than trying to push them straight in.

My wife is a big fan of all things piratical, so we have a ton of the boats. We've only played a few times, but it can be a lot of fun.

I used to play a lot, but I haven't for a while. I've got a spheric yard of the ships, and sadly some have broken in storage :(

Anyways, just the time to get 'em all out and set up and such has kept me from playing recently. Just don't have the urge.

Fun game! My Janice and I play. We have a shoebox full of ships, mostly from the first set. We'll pick up a new booster every week or two.

She kicks my butt every time! I think she's still undefeated, even in the pick-ups we have played with various visitors. She's a brutal pirate. :]

As for the simplicity and age range, I would say it is similar in complexity to most games for kids 8-12. Much simpler than Magic, and I've seen plenty of small kids playing that.
