Pit Fighter Balance

How do people see the balance of the Pit Fighter paragon path for fighters?

I have one in my game. Curious to hear what people say before I chime in myself.

Quick easy fix is half the Wis mod to damage. It's a very statistically strong path because of that and the AC boost. Fighters have almost as many multi-attack options as rangers (just not as focused on a single target usually), so I don't see why multiclassing would break it...

A daggermaster rogue should be able to output better damage on the non-AP fights at a minimum, and we're just not seeing that above. Is the rogue just not getting combat advantage that often? Or never rolling above a 17?

Yeah, I'd think the rogue should be doing more damage. Sneak attacking every other round (doing the move/hide thing) likely keeps her damage lower than it would be for a more aggressive melee rogue.

At that level with the right utilities, she should be attacking every round with CA. Hide in Plain Sight, a +5 vs. OAs, etc.

Fighters get strong ones in general. Look at Dreanought, though its weaker after the errata, with that one your not going to be hurting often.

Well, I do not see a damage bonus equal to wisdom as a huge deal, though it is a good reason to take the prestige class. Now if you are pumping wisdom for a cleric hybrid or the like then it is very nice.

Yes, if you add the AP bonus on top it looks massive, but the AP bonus is one attack for about 2/3 of the encounters. Not a lot, and a +3 or +4 bonus to hit could be jsut as good on average.

Wisdom isn't a bad thing for a fighter to pump anyway seeing as he gets it as a bonus to opportunity attacks, (I don't know whether there are too many feats a fighter wants that need wis) and boosts will defence.

So it's certainly very strong for a reasonably common fighter build.

A +3 or +4 to hit would be better, but I don't know of any prestige class that gives that out for every attack.

I think he was talking about the bonuses you get when you spend an action point. The Pit Fighter gets a damage bonus, while other PPs grant attack bonuses, some as high as +4.

Well, you don't need to get +3/+4 to every attack to be borked.
Take an example I pulled earlier in the thread.

War chanter spends AP.
Each ally within 5 gets +con/+con to attack and damage till end of your next turn.
That's every attack they make. Multiple attack rolls, AP actions, interrupt & opportunity actions, etc.
As premium as AP cheese gets.

The bard gets an extra action and not much else. Right?
Wrong.
Extra action on a war chanter = additional opportunity to grant those inspire by word temp hp (if you failed with first standard action).
If it happens to the the turn after you landed a guiding strike, it's one more action targeting a -2'ed defence ... which is not fantastic, but hardly nothing.
I also love half elf valorous bards ... not the least being for their access to action surge ...
Finally, if that AP'ed action (at an effective +5 to hit for said half elf bard) happens to be for Harmony of the Two (Bard 13, PH2) ... all your allies within 2 gets a basic vs that foe ... remember that they're getting +con/+con to thier hit/dam.

Now all this is scary enough, but it's a half elf bard war chanter.
They can pick up many MC feats, so MC warlord ... giving 'em access to avenging spirit feat.
War chanters can spend 2 AP per combat.
If an ally drops, avenging spirit gives them an extra AP.

Borked.
