D&D General Plagiarised D&D art

While browsing Myth and Legends by Dorling Kindersley I came across a picture of Veles on page 142 that seemed familiar.

So I mirrored and stretched it a bit. The overlay isn't perfect, but the picture was near the spine and I didn't want to damage the book. But it's still pretty obvious.

EDIT for clarity: The D&D image is the original. The DK image is from 2009 or 2019, despite its look.

In my opinion there's a small difference between a tiny publisher like TSR at the time publishing traced art and an industry giant like DK doing the same.

They were etablished in 1974, but that image is either from the 2009 edition or from 2019.

You might want to make it clearer who plagarised from whom in the OP! Because the DK one is a 70s-looking line drawing, I assumed that was the original and the D&D book had traced it for some reason (while also adding a bunch of details and shading that made me wonder why they bothered...).
