There are several different uses for this spell.

1. Cleric/Wizard or Cleric/Sorceror - Cast it on your Familiar.
2. Cleric/Druid or Cleric/Ranger - Cast it on your Animal Companions.
3. Cleric/Paladin or Cleric/Windrider- Cast it on your Mount.

Also, if your DM is in a good mood, you might also be able to use it like this:
4. Cleric with access to the Animal domain - Cast it on your Animal Companions.
5. Cleric with a Ring of Animal Friendship - Cast it on your Animal Companions.
(It's up to the DM if these count as true Animal Companions. I'd say yes they do, as they come from the same source as a Druid's or Ranger's Animal Companion, the Animal Friendship spell.)

Potion?

Don't recall exactly how the spell is worded, but I remember it is a 3rd level spell, so perhaps a cleric could make a potion? And then have a mage's familiar drink it. Have to check.

K.

A single level of Bard or Rogue and Use Magic Device would work too (if you are lucky). I actually had a Rogue/Sorcerer who used this spell.

AFAIK, you cannot Imbue a spell higher than 2nd level.

Demogorge is right - max 2nd level spells only (and that for a 5+ Hit Dice subject). I can see the hope of an Improved Imbue with Spell Ability that might encompass 3rd level Clerical spells, but that's in DM territory...
