Planescape - Dead God Rising: [Combat Thread]

[sblock='Nalfeshnee']I'm confused; I thought that there were originally two unarmored guys, one visibly armored guy, and one robed guy. Then Noch attacked the robed guy and revealed he was wearing armor, Tyrjon killed the visibly armored guy, Nuan killed one of the unarmored guys, and Noch attacked the robed guy again, apparently causing him to surrender. That leaves one unarmored guy, and the robed guy. Am I right? In any case I guess you’re right about telling them to surrender and hitting them in the same turn so I guess I’ll just draw my crossbow and act threatening with it. Unless the guy has something to use disarm on…[/sblock]

you're right - that leaves two foes - one armoured, wearing a robe above it (the one assumed to be a spellcaster, and another (unarmoured) figure... as well as the four skeletons, whose dim senses might actually allow them to do something in this combat :)

Ok. Ill treat the action with the crossbow as an intimidate check with a circumstance bonus (the rapid strike of your attack and so on)

Intimidate (24)

The wounded figure seems to heed Kyran's words, and looks up with pleading eyes, his body wracked by pain. The figure behind him seems bewildered by what has happened, but seeing who is obviously his superior bested in such a way, has made the figure back away.

(the two cutters appear to have surrendered)

But as soon as they begin backing away, the four skeletons finally come to realise what is taking place in this room and, amid the pleas of weakened prisoners and the groans of the wounded foe, the undead creatures luch forward towards your group, attacking Nuan, Noch, Kyran and Tyrjon

Attack rolls
Nuan - 6
Noch - 22
Kyran - 11
Tyrjon - 22

damage
Noch - 5
Tyrjon - 5

Two of the skeletons, despite their slow lurchng moves, make contact with their targets, and theor heavy axes draw blood.
[sblock=Noch and Tyrjon]Through the pain your wounds, you feel the touch of something cold, some strange negative force that empowers the blows of those skeletons[/sblock]

Llyra

Llyra slowly enters the room now, seeing that no interference is necessary, she will leave the room to the bashers, though.

Tyrjon

Soddin' Shamblers...

Tyrjon grunts against the force of the blow and reflexively raises his blade to strike back, but then bites back a curse and stays his hand for the moment, adopting a defensive stance while the Dustman works his magic...

[sblock]Note that Tyrjon's armor absorbs 2 points off the blow for a total of 3 HP damage. Tyrjon will also delay until after Rubious's attempt to control the skeletons.[/sblock]

Seeing some of the skeletons draw blood, the unarmoured humanoid seems to find some more courage. He whispers something (perhaps Vhai'ik) and rushes to one of the prisoners, drawing a dagger and placing it to the peading mans' neck.
'Leave or he gets it,' he says without much passion, pressing the blade to mans' neck

hesitating slightly at the mans' actions with the prisoner, Rubious seems to turn his attentions to the skeletons. He nods slighlty, to no one inp particular and raises his hands towards the skeletons, uttering some uninteliigible words beneath his breath.

The skin on his hands turns black and hard and the skeletons freeze. They look up at him, the purple glow in their eyes dimming and an instant later, they turn towards a corner of the room, their weapons dropped to the ground, forgotten in whatever unnatural fear has overcome them

Turn check 11
turn damage 4

Llyra

Llyra looks at the man who is holding the dagger to the prisoner's neck.

“Go ahead and kill him! But don't think your soul is going to find rest anytime soon then...”

She leaves it to the imagination of the man what this might mean.

OOC: Bluff +11 or Intimidate +8; and just in case, Llyra will ready a Backbiter spell against his dagger on her next action.

Llyra: given the situation, I'll count that as an Intimidate check (with circumstance bonuses) :)
Intimidate 18
Level Check 14

The man takes heed of Llyra's words and puts the prisoner down. The he doesn't seem willing to give up quite yet - he bolts for the top left corner of the room (where the trapdoor is located), dropping the blade

Noch: since you are in full view of the man when you attemot to sneak, you can't really hide without him noticing (the room is lilluminated by a few lanterns)
