Someone offers an opinion and the listeners test their argument. If they can defend it successfully, then it carries weight. If it fails the test, it is discarded as flawed. And if you have no defense for your opinion, then it's just hot air and you shouldn't speak so carelessly next time. "That's just my opinion, why are you being so mean" is not a persuasive defense.I see no such thing as the right to speak your opinions unopposed. If you speak, then its the listener's duty to put it to the test and your duty to prove your point.
