Planned novels to bridge the edition leap?

As an aside, has it been confirmed that TWF is still a ranger schtick? Because I would really, really like that moved over to fighter or rogue or anywhere other than ranger.

There's been a couple of developer comments that still link it to rangers. Also, the Everfrost Ranger DDM piece has Two Weapon Slash as its primary melee attack.

At least they seem to have disposed of spellcasting Rangers in 4e. Perhaps by 5e Drizzle will be dead and buried...

I expect that both Rangers and Rogues will have built in support for Two Weapon Fighting. I'd also hazard that Fighters will receive some Defenderific support in the first splat.

Am I misremembering, or did TWF get assigned to the Ranger class solely because of Drizzt?
Yeah, Drizzt was the motivator behind giving Rangers TWF in 2e, I remember when the designers first started talking about it (somewhere) and just going... whaa? I'm honestly surprised it stuck because it never seemed to be a popular idea.

I was hoping that WoTC would, at least in the immediate future, situate upcoming FR novels in the time period between the Year of the Blue Flame and the timeframe of the FRCS. Using this timeframe would allow the novelists to explore a very dynamic and dramatic 94 year time period with relative freedom. This would eliminate the need to introduce new RSEs into the first couple of years of gaming materials.

I hope Ed doesn't write about Elm or any other spellcasters. I've lost all my hope that he has any writing skills as a novelist after his story in "Realms of War". Now I know what the idea of "nuking uber-characters" is and understand WotC. Simply because the story was quite enetertaining (but a mess of names, too many characters), but near the end an uber-Sister without any good reason (it was plain silly) appears and starts to show off... killing an army... and then going for a soup as far as I remeber - just like a normal day for her. Believe me, I was sitting and thinking WTF for a minute finishing reading. ;)

But I hope Kemps gest a hardcover. He deserves it. Magnificent storyteller. :)

I could have sworn that I'd read that Salvatore gave Drizz't TWF because he'd been told that rangers would have it in 2e.

Of course, I read it on the internet, so it could have been - untrue. :(

I don't know if this could be of any interest to you, but James Wyatt 'Draconic Prophecies' will release Book 2(of3), "Storm Dragon", bridging the gap between Eberron 3.5 and 4E Setting.
