Don't wanna derail into a mental illness debate here, but I saw this TV ad some months ago showing a man in bed all covered with bruises and looking like he took a heck of a beating. His ex-wife was yelling madly at him, asking him why he didn't want the children this coming week-end, telling him he was just being lazy, etc.
The ad ended saying something like : "You wouldn't question this man being sick, would you? Just because they're not visually obvious doesn't mean mental illnesses don't exist."
I agree some people definitely fake it but at its roots, depression is a serious mental illness for which there is no easy solution such as rolling up your sleeves or drinking a beer.
