It looks like you'll have lo play a few different things for a while just to get there.

Race: Dwarf.
Region: The Spine of the World.
Base Attack Bonus: +7.
Skills: Craft (weaponsmithing) 10 ranks.
Feats: Iron Will, Weapon Focus (warhammer).
Spells: Able to cast 2nd-level divine spells.
Patron Deity: Moradin.
Special: The candidate must be a member of the hammers of Moradin.

;)

So he has to be a pal8 before qualifying, waste 10 skill points, take the suboptimal Iron Will feat and another feat which he would have taken anyway.

Seems to me that he has a mostly balanced character until he qualifies, and then he gets a very powerful class. I guess that every single dwarven paladin of Moradin should travel to the Spine of the World and work towards entering the Hammers, because there really is no mechanical reason to be a dwarven pal20 of Moradin here.

Cool! I like the idea of Region being a PrC requirement. Seems like a step in the right direction for helping DMs work more "flavor" into the PrC process. :)

Unfortunately, I think you exactly correct.

It almost seems that they came up with a list of cool ideas for a dwarven paladin PClass. Then could not bring themselves to leave any of them out.

Seems like this PrC is so terribly unbalanced, they had to take it off the 'net. When trying to access that page, all I get is: "An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator."

It's not new, there was already regional feats. You just have to make a regional feat prerequisit and voilà! a regional PrC.

Well, guess they didn't think it was too unbalanced.....it's still up :)

Not being a big dwarf person, I didn't pay much attention to it before...but now that I've looked, that class does look rather powerful. Not sure if it's an issue with the book, with the Players Guide to Faerun, or the general power creep in 3.5 over 3.0 (for everyone but arcane spellcasters).

I am of the belief that Prestige Classes should be more powerful than core classes....but this is a bit ridiculous..
