Players guide to Faerun released yet?

How did they fix the Incantatrix? Is she still an abjurer specialist with assorted powers and metamagic abilities thrown in?

In particular, how did they change the metamagic abilities?

Thanks in advance!

The incantatrix has almost only metamagic powers now. She can help other spellcasters by applying metamagic to their spells, she can affect ongoing effects with metamagic, can metamagic spell trigger items. Also, she can seize the cocentration and later even control of another spellcaster's spell (so she now concentrates on your implosion or controls your summoned monster), can use instant metamagic (like the metamagic rods) 1/day or 2/day. Improved Metamagic is at 10th level now (and shouldn't be that bad with the new rules of metamagic in 3.5 - no tenfold empowered fireballs any more).

Some one tell me is this is true or not. Did they turn Orcus and the other Archfiends into non spell granting fiends?

Not AFAIK. Haven't read all of the book yet, though

No, up until this book Orcus was a lesser power in FR (as shown by 2 3e FR books, Faiths & Avatars and Unapproachable East). Now he might just be a normal demon prince instead.

Kuje,

Thanks again for the support and yes up until this book, Orcus was considered a deity. Apparently not any more.

KY,

Let me know when you hit the Planar section then.

while i agree with you. i must also point out that what i said was true. ;)

those who believed in the "official" stance ...aka ...wait until they see it in print....finally got the confirmation with the new player's guide.

it was there..you just didn't want to admit it.

What was there to admit? In FR, until this book, he was a lesser power. That was the canon truth until this week.

The Description of the Abyss states that "The Abyss has no divine realms, and no true deities make their homes here. However a great many demon princes (...) vie for power and territory on this plane. Prominent demon princes include (...) Orcus (...) most of whom are described in Book of Vile Darkness"

In the description of the Nine Hells, they say something similar about archdevils, and stating that "a few of these creatures certainly rival minor deities in power."

I think that this also counts for demon princes.

The Appendix (dealing with PsiHB, BoVD and BoED) deals with Archfiends, but doesn't state whether they have godlike power. It does say that Orcus played a very significant role in the recent events in Faerûn

It also lists several Archfiends as deities in the table about Vile and Exalted Domains. For example: Diabolic is for the deities Asmodeus, Baalzebul, Mammon, Mephistopheles, though they aren't mentioned in the domain desciptions of the normal domains in the Domains and Spells chapter.

No kidding. At least Ghostwalk and Necromancer Games are more consistant. :p

KY,

Mind going over the god section and seeing if they mention anything about worshipping fiends?

Sorry, there's no deity section.

In the write-ups of the Abyss and the Nine hells, it is stated, that there are no true deities there, but archfiends. In the Domains section, they're not mentioned (but some of the archfiends are mentioned in the "deities" column of some vile domains).

[Edit]
I think, since they have rules to incorporate the BoVD, we can use the Thralls and Disciples classes from there.
