Player's Guide to the Wilderlands map problem

I don't know what I ever did to offend Sword and Sorcery, but I'm deeply sorry.

I recently purchased Player's Guide to the Wilderlands (As in yesterday)... I'm loving the book so far, really loving it, but there is one problem...

The map is, as far as I can tell, a permanent feature of the back of the book. I've tried gentle tugging, I've tried warming it, I've tried peeling it off with my fingers... But nothing can seperate the map from the book. I can get a little ways, but as soon as I shift to the other side to pull from that direction (To avoid bending and kinking the map), the other side re-sticks at full strength again. At this point, I'm convinced that without either damaging the book cover or the map, there is not going to be any getting this map out.

And it's not just a little thin line of glue, either... It's a strip about as wide as a strip of duct-tape, right down the middle of the map, from one edge to another.

Anyone got any suggestions?

And allow me to express my displeasure at this glue. I've seen so much better glue used to attach maps to books... That snot-glue stuff works great, for example. This stuff is just horrid though.

hmmm

did you cal NG or email bill, clark or whomever.

this is really only a minor problem. what likely happened is that your book is at the front of the print run or at its end. those are the two time when the glue application can be 'problematic.' you apparently got a large swath but that is supposed to be a tiny strip -as i understand it.

anyway, i'd just email and let them know.

as for the glue, if it is thick you can seperate it from the book with a knife - just split the glue - do not try to peal it off the back or th paper. then rub a dub dub with the fingers.

patience is the only other way, the glue is supposed to be able to take very high heats (warehouse) but it is not suposed to adhere to paper that strongly.

If it's the print run I'd be surprised, because I got it too. It's a major pain in the you-know-what. I was finally able to peel the sucker off, taking a tiny bit of the back cover with it. When I was done though, I noticed all the glue was still stuck to the map, and still quite sticky. I couldn't just shove the map randomly in the book's pages like I normally do, so what'd I do? I put it right back where I found it. Now I'm back at square one.

Major thumbs-down on the map. It's almost enough to make me not recommend an otherwise good book.

I finally got it out, had the same problem with glue as TW. I started rubbing it with my finger.

About 30 minutes later (Not exaggerating), I finally got it all off the map.

The map is permanently damaged from this. The book only minorly so (A little fleck of paper off the inside), but the map is badly bent and crinkled where the glue pulled at it.

Not impressed.

I must've been lucky; the glue was a bit of a pain, but I was able to slowly work the map off the back cover. It was simple to rub the glue off the map then. IMO, it wasn't great, but it was much easier than getting a folded and perforated map out of a book.

We didnt want the map coming out or being easy for kids to remove since it wasnt a shrink wrapped product and then you wind up getting no map in the back. So they used better glue. Perhaps too good. I have had some people post on the Necro boards with good advice on the best way to remove map and glue with little problem. I will ask them to post here.
