Players Roll All the Dice: 11 vs 12?

I like this rule a lot. It doesn't change balance at all, only perception and rhythm. Good stuff.

OK, I think I'm going to try this variant out on my large, high-level group of PCs next session. Hopefully it will make things a little easier on me during one of our big combat encounters.

After double-checking Unearthed Arcana, it states pretty clearly that a defense check that meets or beats the attacker's DC is a miss. Which means that the 11 is an error, and the DC should be calculated using 12 + the enemy's attack bonus.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more people point out this glitch.

Necroing because I've recently learned this & am,also surprised more people haven't/didn't notice. My gaming group is going to be including Defense Checks as part of our 2017 Resolutions and as the person who suggested we do this, getting it right is important.

So the TLDR version is that it should be +12 & not +11 because ties go to the roller?
