Players: What Do You Bring With You to a Game?

When I was last part of a regular IRL game group (as opposed to an online group), I brought a few pencils, a pad of paper, dice, and one or two 12-packs of soda for everybody to share (if there were any remaining cans at the end of the night, I'd leave them behind for the host). Occassionally, I'd bring my PDA.

as a player...

pencil
dice
calculator
Battle Box
any rulebooks necessary for my character
any new gaming books I've picked up in the last week
character sheet

also, in 4e, power cards (even if they're just D&Di printouts)

Everything. All Characters, books, dice etc.

But I'm the host, and have been for nearly 20 years.

When I did travel - Character sheet, dice, pencil, paper and a PH (or core rulebook for the game).

Last game I was player in I tended to bring, My dice bag full of lots of dice enough to share, pencils, big eraser, Core books + Whatever book I was playing from, A three ring binder with my character sheet and notes for my character, and character sheets for anywhere from half to all of the other players, minature, game mat, um probably some other stuff... We'd of played at my place if I had room for the DM's kids.

We run two games on one day, and a good half the time I'm DMing one of them. So I often have all my DM stuff and it makes the backpack heeeavy.

If Im JUST a player...

Folder with my character sheet and relevant printouts
PHB and DMG (or Pathfinder book for all inclusivness)
Spell Compendium if I'm playing a spellcaster
Completes if I'm playing a class contained therein
Sometimes books that others need that only I own
Dicebag with dice, pencils, laser pointer and calculator
Money for dinner (or dish to share for potluck)
Often a snack or dessert for treats and bonus XP
Sometimes laptop

And, very important for a caffiene addicted barista such as myself...

Coffee to keep me alive through the long day. Sometimes I'll bring drinks for others as well, but that gets expensive.

My character sheet, my dice, a PHB/Core book, if I own it, a notebook for writing stuff down, and something edible and/or drinkable to share with everybody.

My gaming bag, which contains:
3 sets dice
Character sheet and action cards.
Pens, pencils and paper
2 different sets of miniature markers
300+ minis
Cardstock floorplans
Blank grid map & pens
PHB, copies of 'power' books

It's a heavy bag.

During two campaigns (now over) I brought a laptop and dice and did everything from the computer.

The most recent campaign I was in, I opted for a simpler character and so only brought a PHB, character sheet, and dice. (I usually have a pencil and a pad of post-it notes in my dice bag, as well).

Food when required.

I also try to be prepared in the sense that I have re-read the prior adventure log (if provided) and have my character sheet up-to-date. I know how much it helps me as DM when my players have the story fresh in their minds.
