Playing KotS tomorrow night. Any advice?

Picked up the module today and read about half of it. I was expecting to have to do some arm-twisting to get my group to play it, but they are surprisingly enthusiastic.

So, before I sit down to play, I thought I'd start a "lessons learned" thread for myself and others. Any tips from those who have started it?

If you get to the Kobold lair, expect to kill everyone if they are not very, very careful. If you DO kill everyone, don't panic. Do what I did: Have them taken prisoner instead, and move them to the cells in area 4 in the Keep and have them fight their way out.

I ran the first encounter already for my online game. The PCs romped. Seriously, it was over in two rounds.
I made a mistake or two in favor of the PCs, but I'm not convinced that the first couple of encounters are as dangerous as people seem to be making them out to be.

The lair does look tough, I'd just do what I did and stear them toward the Dragon Cairn first.
4 kobold fights in a row is a bit much.

Just to qualify that, Delgar, in Sunless Citadel when the dwarf fighter said, "I scream a battlecry as loud as I can!" In the first goblin room, it brought every goblinoid in the first level except for the king and retinue to the party.

It wasn't the adventure that killed him, it was screaming like a dumbass. :)

But I do see the potential of the lair to be very dangerous. Sometimes, you're supposed to run away.
