Please help me totally abuse Polymorph Self

Vargo

First Post
I'm going to be guest-appearing in a game as a one-shot character. The game uses only the 3.0 rulebooks, no additional books allowed, no errata applied. For various reasons, I'm planning on playing an 11th level Transmuter, and abusing the heck out of Extend Spell and Polymorph Self. (Yes, I've let people know this ahead of time - the attitude I'm getting is "we don't believe it's that bad." It's kind of become a challenge for me.) Throw in Tenser's Transformation, and the Fire Giant form becomes scary.

So, given that, I need some Most Excellent forms for abuse.

I'm sticking with the 3.0 monster manual, as to not be completely rediculous. I'm also staying away from templating critters - for example, no half-dragon vampiric fire giants. I'm looking for critters in 2 categories for each of the following items: Large, and Medium or smaller size. Bonus points

Strength: Large: Fire Giant Medium:?
Dexterity: Large: Large Air Elemental Medium:?
Con: Large: ? Medium: ?
AC: Large: Solar :D Medium: ?
Touch AC: Large: ? (Want to say Large Air Elemental) Medium: ?
Move:
Flight: Large: Large Air Elemental/Solar (Solar moves faster, Air Elemental is more maneuverable.) Medium: ?
Burrow: Large:? Medium:?

Any other good options out there? Any favored forms that people have found useful?

(Yes, I'm aware that the spell has been erratta'ed. Yes, the DM has not included the erratta in the campaign.

Evil.)

Considered using the fly spell and turning into a giant squid?

10 attacks, and all you've got to do is hold your breath...

IIRC, a Giant Squid is size Huge - Polymorph Self (3.0, no errata) only lets you change into a creature one size greater than yourself. Unfortunately, playing a "Large" wizard isn't an option in this game.

Neat idea, though.

The solar is illegal unless you're an outsider already. My suggestion is to try the stone giant. Note that it works better for casting on allies, though, since one of the big points of the stone giant is that you can still wear your armor.

Touch AC: Large: ? (Want to say Large Air Elemental) Medium: ?

You can't turn into an elemental unless you were already an elemental.

I'm unsure if the outsider/elemental stuff was in the errata, though.

One form that is good is Umber hulk. Realy strong, burrow 20 ft., and Tremorsence.

Start with a enlage. now you can change in a huge creature. Then turn in a adult gold dragon.
You got fire subtype, water breathing, a Str. and AC of 33 water breadhing.

Hoping that i'll help you.

Ah, but that's the sneaky part - according to the *ORIGINAL* 3.0 PHB, there's no restriction on what you can change into. At least, not that I could find.

None at all, other than size limited.

BTW, why Stone Giant over Fire Giant? Fire Giant has that nice, meaty strength that's just way out there.

I'll be carrying a couple of Polymorph Other spells as well, for my compadres. Just the sheer utility of a spell that lets you take practically any form for 22 hours (11th level, Extend Spell) looks like a lot of fun.

3.0 enlarge doesn't make you large.

The stone giant gets a better AC score, that's why. Higher Dex is part of it (I would hate to have the Initiative penalty because I'm a Dex 9 fire giant).
