Please Help!

I just wanted to see how many people would want to reply if I used this as the subject. A lot of people seem to include this in the subject and I want to know if it works. Personally, it kind of annoys me, but then again I am a pretty callous bastard.

Seriously. I get annoyed by this sort of subject line as well, but if the poster is new to both the boards and the game, then providing assistance is a good thing to do.

If motivated enough, my post would include a "Next time use a subject line that is specific to your problem. Posting a thread here at Enworld usually results in someone attempting to help regardless of putting 'Please Help!' up front." sort of line.

Of course, some peoples 'help' is more helpful than others

Another interesting thing to consider is the phenomina that more replies to a thread attract more readers. Check the [Meta-Troll] thread over in the [General] forum as a great example of this.

And speaking of interesting.. am I the only one to notice the relatively standard 10 views to 1 post here?

While I agree that subject lines which don't provide any information are a little bit annoying, you know what's really annoying? Clicking on one of them to try and help, and finding out that it's not actually a question.

But hey, you know what kind of threads get LOTS of views? Closed ones!
