The only reason to ever take this feat is if you're going with the OotBI PrC, as mentioned above. Otherwise, it really sucks.

I marked it Average.

This feat is being judged far too harshly simply because it is useless to most characters.

A cleric Archer can replace his measly +1 or +0 Dex bonus with a beefy +4 or better. He has to be within 30', but that is exactly where the cleric should be be anyway -- right behind the grunts.

A +3 bonus (or better) to hit is an attractive benefit. To the right character, as a standalone feat it is clearly superior to both Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot.

Point blank and precise rank way down on the list for a spell caster. You are too busy casting spells to fling some stupid rock at something for d4 damage. A cleric does much better to have Persistent favor for +3 to hit and damage all the time.

OOBI- Order of the Bow Initiate, one of the 4 archer prestige.

I've never personally used the feat, but there might actually be a reason for that. I think that it really has no use in any of my games.

Obviously this would be for a Cleric or Druid Archer. PBS, Rapid Shot, and Zen Archery make for a reasonable combo to give extra punch from the back line.

Persistent Spell is probably the most banned feat from any WotC product.

In the Ravenloft campaign I'm in, my Vastraka Half-Vistani cleric has a 20 Wisdom and a 12 Dexterity (alongside a 9 Strength -- crossbows are, naturally, his weapons of choice).

So, point blank shot gives +1 to hit and +1 damage; I've got that. Taking Zen Archery will give me ANOTHER +4 to hit (+5 from Wisdom, instead of +1 fromd exterity), within that range. +4 to hit, form one feat, for one class of weapon (all ranged attacks) ... ? I'll take that gladly, thanks!!

Mind, I might ALSO go OotBI with him, but that's only a vague, passing thought.

Isn't it time for the next poll? Are you going to do all the splatbook feats this way? I like these polls, despite the occasional griping from other folks about them- keep it up!

Prestige classes aren't cool, they suck :D

This feat is a must for cleric archers... are there still any other archers out there? Or any players who don't play clerics anyway?
