Plot help needed

Im going to ask this here, recognizing that this is a tough question to answer having not sat at my table.

I need plot help. Please.

In my homebrew campaign, the PCs are Lvl 12 dwarves, who through a series of adventures have been plagued by an organization called the soldiers of light (SOL). The SOL expressed purpose is to rid the world of all undead though the PCs are suspicious and I have left it somewhat ambiguous.

What the SOL is actually up to is building a cathedral and are collecting dwarven artifacts in order to call forth an ancient elven queen (elves are awol from my world.) And I am intending that this ancient evil elf is the Lich Queen from Dungeons "Lich Queens Beloved" with the Githyanki repurposed as warped elves. I intend that adventure to end the campaign

The PCs just completed an adventure where the SOL beat them to a dwarven artifact.

I had intended sending the PCs to the "Kingdom of the Ghouls" from Dungeon #70 on the pretext that they are somehow involved, but I cant quite wrap my head around how they would fit, or even, excluding this what the PCs would do next to bridge them into Lich Queens Beloved.

Thanks
G

I don't know much about the Kingdom of the Ghouls, but if I was a dwarf and some non-dwarf just took one of my relics/artifacts I think I would stop at nothing to try and reclaim it. Depending on your players, you might just have to say "they went thatta way!" and let the PCs handle the rest.
