Being your first time playing 5e, I would suggest picking up the Starter Set, and running them through the adventure in there. Its a nice sized adventure. And you dont have to limit them to the pre-gens in the Starter Set. If you have the PHB let them make their own characters.

+1 to this. I am a new DM and all the players are new as well. We are running through LMoP and we are all loving it. Highly recommended!

You can also ask your FLGS if they'll give you copies of the organized play download modules (expeditions modules).

There are 15+ of them... many are low level, a few are high level.

victorcrossman: Think of what jump starts your imagination and go with that. Then start brainstorming how your players are going to fit in.
Talk to your players a little about their characters and backgrounds. You may find the kernal of an adventure idea in what one of your players relates as part of their back story.

Is a thief hunted by a former guild? Did they turn informant and now have former criminal buddies after them?
How did a cleric come to find their faith? Etc.

With a few notions about your characters you can start thinking of neat situations you would like them to be in, characters they might meet or locations they might visit.

You don't have to start big. You can start small and work your way from there.

Good luck and happy dungeon mastering!
