It's probably too late, but I have two words: don't cure, inflict.
The mother and daughter are shut-ins because the daughter is undead, and the mother is trying to reverse her situation without magical abilities. The 'cheap healing potions' are actually potions of inflict minor/light/whatever wounds, which keep the daughter from reaching 0 hp -- because the house is actually on a minor rift into the positive energy plane...
