Plug-in Lifepath system

Hi there,
I´m thinking about developing a lifepath system for my campaign, to be used by the players during character creation. I´d like one that resolves things as heritage, social class, family, relationships with NPCs and so on. Before I begin though, I was thinking if something like this already exists. A lifepath system for character background creation that is usable regardless of system. Alternatively, a system that is bound to a specific rpg but easiliy portable to others. Does anyone know of something like this? (just for the record, we´re playing Pathfinder)
