Spoilers Pluribus

After this latest episode, I'm going to be doubly disappointed if this virus isn't the first step of an alien invasion, or at least a precursor to a second, more aggressively-minded virus.

If that's not what's going on here, this hive mind makes no sense from an evolutionary perspective. It's so passive, it essentially has to sit around, waiting for food to fall out of the sky? That's not a functioning hive. That's the worker drone half of the hive that builds infrastructure and tends to the nest. Where are the aggressive warrior drones who can harvest food and protect the passive workers from outside threats?

My guess is it's purposeful.

It's a great way to wipe out the dominant intelligent lifeform on a planet with minimal damage.

'Humane' extermination.

Or the aliens can just show up and the hive mind will do whatever they want, giving them billions of slaves (minus however many die before they get there).

Koumba Diabaté is Mauritanian, not French. Please can we acknowledge the rarity that is a TV series presenting a global phenomenon that actually has characters from a wide variety of countries!

He's such a great character, he could very easily come across as a sleazy creep. But between the writing and the actor he has a real warmth and kindness to him.

Fun fact: Koumba Diabaté is Mauritanian because the actor who plays him (Samba Schutte) is also Mauritanian, and suggested to Vince Gilligan that they make his character the same nationality for added authenticity.
