Rust monster is in MM2- and not designed by mearls!

Now, don't get me wrong, I love his design work in general, but his redesigned rust monster was lame. (Temporary rust?? WTF??)

Do you think a 4e rust monster is going to permanently destroy a PC's equipment? I'm going to guess that the temporary rust isn't going away - in the rulebooks I mean, obviously it will go away in the game.
