As in the toy?
Well, I suppose the party might find someone that takes a passing curiosity in it. Say, a gnome. He discovers that this device, while fun, is also a great help. It lets him get things off the top shelf! Pleased with this contraption, he begins to try and copy it. His first few attempts are failures. That spring is tricky. But before he knows it, he's made a few and given them as gifts to his family and friends. They show their friends and they all want one! The gnome is now receiving orders for pogo sticks. He begins to sell them! Soon, he has enough money to take on apprentices. Some more gnomes to manufacture them and maybe a dwarf to help with the spring. Halfling caravans begin taking them far and wide and selling them in distant cities. Money begins to flow into the town and soon his town becomes a city. Everyone shares in the prosperity! But with such wealth comes bandits! Soon, adventurers are coming in and out of the city seeking fame and glory. Violence becomes common place, the citizens are afraid to leave their cities walls. Still, the little gnome continues his craft, making pogo sticks. Until ... that day. The day of evil. When a great dragon, hearing of the riches of this land, descends on the city and declares everyone his slave....
