Ahem. Sorry. This nonsensical comment was brought to you by a guy whose musical tastes are still stuck in the 80s. If you don't get it, you're younger than I am. ;)

That's it. I'm naming my first 4e character Falco.

And, I'm so stealing that idea.

My impression is that the 'points of light' is a generic non-setting. I always loved the Wilderlands of High Fantasy. I wonder how much detail will go into it. Hopefully we at least get some decent maps.

Well, I feel a lot better for not having gotten that reference now, considering I was only 4 or 5 at the time. :)
:( Damn, I'm old. I was 16-17. I'm sure someone here will tell me they were 35 in short order, though.

In any case, the idea is hardly new. Middle-earth during the time of the War of the Ring had the exact same idea.

No its not. We have the same type of set up with Violet Dawn although we also have the wilderness itself as a danger to PCs and NPCs.

I get it AND I'm younger. :p

I don't care what they call it but I'm totally digging the new campaign article on DDI. It sounds a lot like Ravenloft without the borders: isolated towns, forts, castles, etc cutoff from the rest of the world, relying on brave adventurers to save their bacon.

I''m so there.
