Poison rules?

Does anyone have / know of any good rules for poison creation? I have a player whose character is interested in learning how to make poisions, but there don't seem to be any rules for this in the core rulebooks. I think it could be a function of Alchemy or (more likely) a specific Craft: Poisons subset, but I have not started trying to assign DCs and costs for creation of various different types / strengths of poison. I'm also thinking that it might be sensible from a game balance perspective to require a feat (Poisoncraft?) be taken as a prerequisite to accessing the poison-making skill. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Complete Adventurer, pg 97-98

Craft:Poisonmaking is covered in Complete Adventurer on pages 97-98. It basically covers cost of the raw materials, DCs to create each poison, how much you can make. You'll have to buy the book for all the details, as it isn't open content...

Welcome to the Boards, Brezza!

You may want to look at Poisoncraft by Blue Devil Games, I believe. I think that might be exactly what you're looking for.

Rules also in 3.0's Song and Silence, p. 25. Basically Craft (poisonmaking) skill, table sets DCs for each poison type (range 15 or 20; 30 or 35 for nastiest two), raw material cost 1/3, or 1/6 if steady supply available.

Brezza, don't buy a book only because of a single skill ;)

A Craft (Poison) is such an obvious idea that I cannot remember in how many books they have done it! Song & Silence (3.0) and Complete Adventurer (3.5) have the "official version", but there is a nearly identical skill also in Rokugan Campaign Setting, Kingdoms of Kalamar Player's Guide, Traps & Treachery and many others...

Think about the rest of these books, if you think you may need or like it (or read some reviews on this website), because the same skill is basically printed in very many books, tho the exact mechanic may be slightly different.

In fact, I think that Craft (Poison) might have been part of the draft rules of the first PHB, and could have been dropped only because of a traditional D&D staple against poisons.
