D&D General Pokemon Campaign Idea

First Post
I've only been a part of a few campaigns with friends, and never DMed myself, but I though of this potential Pokemon campaign idea that I thought would be nice to share!

The campaign obviously takes place in a world that combines both Pokemon and D&D, where before the campaigns even starts each player selects a legendary pokemon. The campaign progresses it is discovered that each of the players' characters' ancestors where all very powerful travelers who had the legendaries the players chose as their patrons. So when they level up they gain new skills and or spells based around their patron legendary as said legendaries slowly begin waking up to take on the roles as patrons once again. (This being really good or really bad depending which Pokemon the players choose)

So, yeah. Just wanted to throw my idea out there. Who knows maybe it might inspire one of you guys or something

There is a 3PP, "Roll for Combat" what published "Battlezoo", and "Dungeons in a box" algo published "Monster Trainer Handbook". Other titles are "Animon", "Journeymon" or "monster wrangler". Mystical: Kingdom of Monsters was a 3PP setting.

If you want lore you could read the fandom wikis of this kind of videogames.

@Blue0Cake welcome to the site.

It seems like you are looking for more Pokémon in your D&D over having a D&D game with themes of Pokémon. This is fine, but I just do not have enough information to really help.

My initial thought was to have the things be some sort of captured elementals that acted a bit like henchmen and not like a ranger's animal companion.
