Polearm Fighter questions

First, Polearm momentum works as follows: If you slide the target 2 or more squares it falls prone at the end of the slide.

That's any weapon attack (keyword is at the top of the power description) which should be practically every single fighter attack.

There's only one fighter At-Will that works with Polearm momentum in the heroic tier: Footwork Lure.

Now Footwork Lure says 'slide the target one square into the square you just left,' (thanks to errata) which is a tad restrictive, but the plus side is that you can work with this. As long as the monster ends up in the square you just left, it can travel through any number of squares to get there. And since it's a slide, you can do L shaped travel all you want. Also, you have reach, so you can slide it two squares if you're two squares away.

Now what's the easiest way to get a two square slide? Rushing Cleats. Increases the push or slide of any melee attack by 1.

Rushing Cleats | D&D 4E | Obsidian Portal

P.S. Polearm Momentum doesn't work on Pushes. Only slides.

P.P.S. In the Paragon Tier you can use a Glave (Heavy Blade+Polearm weapon) with Heavy Blade Opportunity (allows you to use at-will attacks on opportunity attacks) to prone at will. Combined with a Paragon Path that gives threatening reach, you can now prone people At-Will any time they provoke an opportunity attack and you hit. With Polearm Gamble, they provoke an opportunity attack any time they enter a square adjacent you. This sets up the 'touch me not' of a Polearm Fighter.

With having to get to 15 Wis and 15 Dex for Polearm Momentum, it makes the Str / Con fighter take a real hammering on his main stats.

I was thinking Dragonborn for Draconic Arogance but that makes stats even worse.

Kam Cheese

Yeah, but Kulkor Arms Master is the single most abused OP paragon path, and everyone will be mad if you take it.

Don't mess up a Polearm build with KAM cheese, it's overpowered boring ban-bait.

I have just been looking at Avenger re this Polearm Momentum Build.

You say that KAM is a cheesy PP still open.

Does this mean the Avenger PP's have already been nerfed.
Looking at the manuals I see:

"Relentless Slayers".
This has 2 stances in it equal to KAM.

L12 Relentless Fervor - effectively an extra melee basic attack per every single avenger attack (that hits).

L20 Slayers Ascendency - one extra melee basic attack per round as a minor action.

This seems to be a more cheesy option than KAM, so I assume it was nerfed ???

KAM is cheesy because its level 16 feature is insufficiently restricted, allowing any build that can prone at-will to reach baseline optimized striker benchmarks. A Wizard built to use KAM (and largely ignoring the "Wizard" part) can outdamage an optimized Vampire (unless you ignore the whole Vampire thing and use the same stuff to abuse KAM on him, too). If the L16 feature only worked with the weapons required for entry into the path, it'd probably be fine.

Polearm Momentum absolutely works on Pushes, contrary to an above poster's remark.

If you're building for maximum utility from Draconic Arrogance, you may want to use Tide of Iron over Footwork Lure (any 1-H Spear can work here, typically a Trident). Tide of Iron + Battering Shield (or Rushing Cleats) + Polearm Momentum + Draconic Arrogance = normal damage + Str (from push) + Str (from prone).

I was trying to get that and Polearm Momentum for kAM, and also Polearm Gamble and the Polearm PP for Threatening Reach - so the one handed spear doesnt work.

But looks too hard to do all of that :)

Until Epic when you can weild a Polearm one handed under "Eternal Defender" I think it is.

What about the Floating Shield you dont have to hold, I can use a polearm with that, could I then take "Battering Shield".
